Since Edison introduced his version of the incandescent light bulb in 1879, lighting design has seen endless ideological and technological advancements that have culminated into a multi-million dollar industry. With the increasing importance of lighting design across residential and commercial properties, LED lighting technology has stepped up to the plate to deliver a robust list of features that have recreated the way people perceive the lighting around them.
It's no surprise that ilumi's proprietary LED technology is at the forefront of this 'lighting renaissance', with a robust feature list delivering countless color schemes, thousands of shades of white and fully-programmable scheduling capabilities. Of course, these features have some distinct, clear use cases--cool whites in the morning to energize, warm whites in the evening to relax, Music Sync for the block party, etc. However, the team here at ilumi thought we'd share a few unique ways that we use ilumi to achieve a number of different lighting effects.
- Bias Lighting - In essence, bias lighting refers to the use of ambient lighting behind a screen (TV, computer, etc). Bias lighting is not only easier on your eyes, but can also be used to create unique atmospheres around your entertainment space. Check out our previous article on bias lighting for a deeper analysis.
- Accent/Artistic Lighting- This is a very popular application of ilumi's technology. Accent lighting is used highlight particular areas, architecture features, art pieces, etc. ilumi boasts a color rendering index of 97, making it a ideal for illuminating sculptures and artwork. Take a look at the Metalogram from our friends at Shinkle Fine Art--an excellent use of ilumi's full spread of colors and whites.
- Nursery Lighting - The scheduling and brightness functionalities contained within each ilumi make it the perfect nursery light. We suggest using our original app to schedule the Shake functionality at 20% brightness on warm white for those late night wake-up calls to feed your newborn. Simply shake your phone after getting out of bed and just the right amount of light will greet you and your beautiful baby.
These are only a few unique ways that ilumi can be utilized to achieve specialized lighting across your home or commercial space, but considering the ubiquity of lighting, the possibilities are endless. We've even had a customer who used ilumi in their chicken coop to simulate daylight and increase egg production. We love hearing these innovative use cases for ilumi-- tweet us (@ilumisolutions) yours using hashtag #liveyourlight!
