ilumi took the plunge and swam with the Shark's - the nail-biting episode aired in April 2014 and Mark Cuban joined the ilumi nation with a $350,000 investment for 25% stake in ilumi. Since then, the ilumi LED Smartbulb entered the market and began shipping to Kickstarter and indiegogo backers, and pre-order customers from ilumi.co.
The innovative ilumi color tunable LED Smartbulbs are wirelessly controlled from a free iOS or Android app using Bluetooth® Low Energy. ilumi uniquely offers wireless meshing using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which provides full systematic lighting control without reliance on Wi-Fi networks, bridges, and hefty installation costs. Additionally, ilumi LED Smartbulbs are the only Smartbulb on the market that retains its settings after the power is turned off. Also included is the exclusive feature to set a personal, power-on default so you can get the right light at the right time.
Since airing on ABC's Shark Tank last April, ilumi has received five patents on their LED Smartbulbs and has grown an amazing team of people to continue to brighten the market. ilumi is an affordable lighting system alternative bringing the ease and convenience to the general consumer without the hefty price tag that comes with more complicated lighting control systems.
The fun doesn't stop there. ilumi has entered the retail market and is now sold through ATG by Lowes, HomeDepot.com, Amazon, Think Geek, and both online and in-store at Fry's nationwide.
ilumi will continue to add more features to their iOS and Android apps, giving users an ever-improving lighting experience with value-added features like Torch and Circadian, which recently published to the app this May.
